CDOT Cyber Incident

CDOT Cyber Incident Update
3.16.18: OIT is making great progress to get CDOT fully operational. OIT has brought up much of CDOT’s network, internet is turned on, and some business critical applications are now available. Printers and copiers continue to be brought back online. As mentioned previously, traffic operations remain intact, and employees are getting paid on time. The active investigation continues.

Incident Summary
The systems at the Colorado Department of Transportation were recently infected with ransomware that rendered its network largely unavailable. No personal information was compromised, and no additional state agencies were infected.

The event has been very impactful to CDOT administrative operations, but OIT is doing everything possible to bring CDOT systems back online as safely and quickly as possible. This incident did not impact CDOT traffic operations, highway cameras, variable message boards, and the like.

OIT has taken precautions to prevent further infection and implemented those precautions across all state agencies.
